What We Do

Traditional methods & values

At Limbrick House Co. we create beautiful joinery that will last a lifetime (quite possibly a lot longer) through the use of traditional methods and materials.

We offer a complete service, from initial site survey - design - manufacture - installation - servicing.

Based in Standish, Greater Manchester, we specialise in interior & exterior joinery including sash/casement windows, traditional wooden panelling, doors & entrances, bespoke interiors and furniture to Parbold, Wrightington, Croston, Chorley and Bolton and beyond.

65 years of experience combined with pride and passion for what we do and a love of old buildings and architecture shows through our work.

Case Study 1

This "snug" room is part of an ongoing project we are currently involved in. This 297 year old Georgian (I) period home had been "modernised" in the 1950's, destroying the character through enlargement of the original size windows and using cement renders, gypsum plaster and plastic based paints which had caused damp. Due to these works and materials the property didn't gain Listed status in the 1980s.

The non breathable materials have now been removed and replaced with traditional materials such as hot lime mortar and plaster, timber, cork, oakum and burnt sand mastic; creating a warm damp free home that will last another 300 years.

This project started out by building an internal frame that tied into the replacement floor joists of the bedroom above. The window openings where built back to their original size and timber sash windows were made, glazed with acoustic laminate glass, putty pointed and painted with linseed paint.

Solid wood panelling (no mdf) was then manufactured, along with custom skirtings and two step architraves.

Next up, we cleaned and installed the reclaimed Teak parquet flooring and added a contrasting fine Olive wood inlay around the border before finishing with Fiddes hard wax oil.

Case Study 2

Mr & Mrs Earnshaw, Hale, Greater Manchester

Bespoke wardrobes and panelling in hand painted hardwood with nickel plated brass handles and butt hinges.

We were asked to make wardrobes for a returning client of ours for their new dressing room. We decided on a traditional style in keeping with the age of the property including a classical frieze and cornice.

Little details such as door activated internal lights and secret shoe storage in the bases were nice additions.
